Adds a maintenance-page to your blog that lets visitors know your blog is down for maintenancetime. User with rights for theme-options get full access to the blog including the frontend. Activate the plugin and your blog is in maintenance-mode, works and see the frontend, only registered users with enough rights. You can use a date with a countdown for informations the visitors or set a value and unit for infomrations. Also you can add urls for exlude of maintenance mode.
In WordPress 3.0, when you do an update or upgrade through the admin dashboard, sometimes it does not complete the job properly. When you try to view your site, you may get a notice like “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance”.
The problem is, you can’t get back to the admin either.
Now to get rid of this deadlock, follow the steps mentioned below :
Open your favorite FTP client and browse to the directory where the affected blog’swp-config.php is located.
You will find a file named .maintenance over there, similar to .htaccess (yes the dot is intentional)
Now remove or rename this file and refresh the blog page. It should solve the problem.
